Shutter speed is the amount of time that the shutter opens and closes. The longer the shutter is open, the longer the sensor is exposed to the light. If the shutter speed is short, the sensor or film is exposed for a short amount of time, and the light hitting can be a sharp image of movement. If the shutter speed is long, then the sensor has more light hitting it, and during that time the light hitting it has time to change, which makes the image blurry.
Even though the shutter speed for this picture is pretty high, my dog (Louis) was moving very fast, so he comes out blurry. The shutter speed was 1/80th of a second. The sensor was exposed a relatively short amount of time, but Louis was moving so fast combined with the fact that I was spinning meant that the light entering and hitting the sensor had time to change and blur as the picture was taken.
This picture had a shutter speed of 2 seconds. I just wanted to put this one in because the shutter speed for the picture above was actually pretty fast, and it was because I was spinning and my dog was running fast that it came out blurry, this is a picture with an actual slow shutter speed.
My fish are very small and move a lot all the time, so I had to use a very high shutter speed. The shutter speed I used was 1/125th of a second. The sensor was only exposed to light for a short amount of time so it was able to capture the fish and bubbles in one position with no blur (on the subject, there is some blur in the background because I had to make the aperture very small).

I like this photo that captures an animal that goes completely against what people may think of them. The slow, serene, and calm demeanour of the whale is betrayed in this moment, and it is captured in this picture. As well as that, I think the photographer also wanted to capture a rare moment of beauty that nature has to offer. I don't know how often whales breech, and unless someone is an active whale watcher, most people have not seen a whale do a breech like this. Capturing this moment allowed for just one aspect of nature's beauty to be shown.

I like this picture because even though I know that water is made up of millions of droplets of water, It really brings out the saying "a wall of water." I think the photographer was probably just trying to capture a picture of a waterfall that made it look dangerous and pretty at the same time. Something else he/she might have purposefully tried to make it look more like that "wall of water" that people sometimes describe water as.
